The bulk of these papers are typescript and holograph manuscripts, 1924-1951, by various authors, on local history topics; genealogy of the Brasher family; biography of John Lloyd Stephens, Mayan explorer; and other topics. The rest of the collection consists of papers of the Brasher, Weeks, and related families, 1703-1911. Included are bills of lading, 1774-1818; deeds, 1703-1737/38; letters to Mrs. Jane Abeel Brasher from her husband Gasherie Brasher in New Orleans on business trips, 1801; letters of Robert D. Weeks, 1813-1829, concerning business, property, family life, hot air balloon flight, and one requesting the hand of Julia H. Brasher in marriage (1818); letters of John Abeel Weeks, 1835-1900, concerning travel experiences locally and in Europe, and personal and family matters; typed excerpts from the Revolutionary War diary of Helen Kortright Brasher and of Molly Cooper; and family history and genealogy correspondence, 1892-1911.
